Happy Fall, 2G Families! Please enjoy these highlights of our week:
Fundations: We focused on "c", "k", and "ck" sounds and how they are used. Ask your child about the fun way we use whiteboards to help with our spelling in 2G!
Math: Line 'em up! Mathematicians used number lines to solve addition and subtraction problems. In addition, we played the math game, "cover up". This is a great game to play at home....your math expert can teach you.
Writing Workshop: Students are working on forming letters and holding pencils correctly. They are knocking my socks off with all of their hard work!
Literacy: Readers were introduced to three different Literacy centers this week - "Read the Room", "Buddy Read", and "Making Words". We also enjoyed two new books by Patricia Polacco, When Lightning Comes in a Jar, and Aunt Chip and the Great Trip Creek Dam Affair.
Computer Lab: Students had a blast creating their own "word clouds" that describe things about themselves.
Science: We're rockin' and rollin' - literally! Scientists began their study of Motion this week. We explored how a marble moves on a foam track with a partner. As we discussed our findings, we learned new vocabulary to help describe what we see. We even got official science logs to use when recording our findings!
Have a great week.
