2G had an amazing week! Please enjoy these highlights of our studies:
Literacy: Readers have been working hard on building fluency skills in our Literacy centers. Students are learning wonderful new vocabulary words that we keep on our word rings to practice. We are learning to use intonation when reading to help bring characters to life.
Math: Bar graphs and pictographs! Mathematicians are learning to both create and interpret graphs. We are learning to read given information carefully. Some of the questions we've used to collect data are: "What kinds of pets do we have?", "If you could be an animal what would you be?", and "What is your favorite kind of ice cream?". Have your mathematician collect data from your family and create a graph!
Writer's Workshop/Publishing: Writers completed their AMAZING mysteries this week. We published them on Friday and we can't wait to share them with you at our Mystery Breakfast Share.
Social Studies: 2G started our study of Japan that will continue through the month of December. We learned about the four main islands and the different weather on each. We also explored the symbolism in the Japanese Flag. Hiroki gave a fantastic presentation about his school in Japan as well as important landmarks and news stories. Thank you!!! We look forward to learning more about Japanese writing, language, and schools this week.
Enjoy your week!
