We had another amazing week in 2D! Students have been working very hard on their mystery books that you'll see at the breakfast share. We can't wait to share them with you! Here are some highlights of our our wonderful studies:
Fundations: This week we focused on words ending in, "-y", "-ly", and "-ty". 2D learned when and how to use each ending. Please ask your child about the vowel sounds in these types of words. We are working on identifying short and long vowel patterns.
Math: Mathematicians concluded a unit on time. We are practicing telling time to the exact minute throughout the day. We began a new study about fractions and we're "half"ing so much fun!
Literacy: Students had the opportunity to read new mystery stories and build on their detective skills.
Writing Workshop: Publishing! 2D completed several elements of their mystery books. Our published books are complete with a dedication page, about the author page, and mosaic cover...beautiful!
Social Studies: Students worked in small groups to create and present posters about one part of the Japanese culture. They did a fantastic job sharing what they learned with their peers. In addition, we had a special visit from Mrs. Fell. She read us not one, but two traditional Kamishibai stories: "Peach Boy" and "Little One Inch".
Science: 2D continues our study of nutrition. This week we focused on the vegetable group. We are learning how the foods in each group help us stay healthy.
Have a wonderful week!
