Happy December! It has been an absolute pleasure meeting with many of you for conferences and I look forward to those to come! I am so proud of all that 2D has accomplished. Please enjoy these highlights of our fantastic week:
Math: What time is it? Mathematicians have been exploring time/clocks. We have been introduced to: time on the hour, the half hour, and quarter hour. Next week, we'll work on telling time to the minute. We've concluded that time really does fly when you're having fun!
Literacy: Detectives have been working on their Detective logs as they finish their small group mystery studies. We are practicing using intonation in our voices as we read more dialogue in our wonderful stories.
Writing Workshop: Writers are putting a great deal of effort into writing their own mysteries. We began the editing process, using classroom tools to help us check our spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
Social Studies: Students are working in groups to study different elements of the Japanese culture. Each group is in charge of finding relevant facts and images and designing a poster to present to the class.
Science: Nutritious and Delicious! 2D started our unit about Nutrition. Students will explore the five food groups through a variety of lessons/activities. This week we met "The Royal Food Family" that is helping us understand why it is so important to eat balanced meals.
Special Project: Students made incredible 3-Dimensional snowflakes to welcome December. They are hanging inside our classroom...take a look if you have not seen them already!
Have a wonderful week.
