What an incredible week! We ended our week with a feast that was not only delicious, but one that gave us an opportunity to celebrate all that we are thankful for in 2D. I am thankful for the smiles that walk through my door every day. :) Please read these highlights of our week:
Fundations: Silent "e" was the focus of our phonics study this week. We learned about words that end with at "VCV" pattern (Vowel Consonant Vowel).
Math: Graphing! Mathematicians explored bar graphs and line graphs. We are learning to carefully read graph keys before answering given questions.
Social Studies: In our study of Japan, we started to learn how to say some common greetings in Japanese. In addition, we explored a Japanese folktale that taught us about the differences between having "needs" and "wants".
Writing Workshop: 2D writers are creating their own mysteries. Wait until you seem them! Students are doing an incredible job learning to write exciting opening sentences that make us want to read more. :)
2D Bakers/Artists: Students (and parent helpers) baked 210 cookies this week for the Thanksgiving Feast. We also made delicious strawberry Jello that got gobbled up! I was so impressed to see all of the care that went into each dessert. We also made beautiful placemats and centerpieces for the lunch tables. The feast was a wonderful community event.
Enjoy the upcoming week and Happy Early Thanksgiving to You!
